Professor Griff is van Public Enemy, de laatsten van de oorspronkelijke hiphoppers die werkelijk uit de 'hood' kwamen en sociaal commentaar leverden. Na hen kwam Ice T met 'Cop Killer' en de 'studio gangsters' (zoals ze door Cypress Hill worden genoemd) waren geboren met hun leeghoofdige 'gangster rap'. De door mij veel gebruikte slogan 'don't believe the hype' komt van Public Enemy. Professor Griff is volledig op de hoogte van agenda en zet zich hiertegen af. Hij laat hiermee zien dat ook mensen met een donkere huidskleur intellectuelen kunnen zijn. In de jaren '70 waren er wel meer, zoals Curtis Mayfield, Stevie Wonder, Donnie Hathaway, Gill Scott Heron, Martin Luther King, Malcolm X, etc.

Ik ben van alle markten thuis. Er wordt mij soms nog wel eens verweten dat ik er van alles bij haal, zoals muziek, natuur- en scheikunde, geschiedenis en (geo)politiek, maar ik zie overal alleen maar verbanden. Kijk uit dat je niet hetzelfde overkomt, want je hersenen gaan alleen maar beter werken op dit voedingspatroon! :wink:

Merk je dat ook, dat je een uitstekende observator wordt van mensen? Dat je gedrags- en denkpatronen doorziet maar ook herkent, omdat je hier vroeger zelf ook aan leed? We moeten dan ook niet elitair gaan doen en (ver)oordelen en altijd bedenken: zo was ik vroeger ook. Onwetendheid is de vloek van de mensheid.

Ik heb echt medelijden met haar. Hoe oud is ze eigenlijk?
Edit: heb even gekeken . Net 27 geworden. DE leeftijd waarop statistisch gezien een heleboel van dat soort "artiesten" ofwel komen te overlijden of echt compleet doordraaien.

Ten eerste wil ik zeggen dat, Mike jij echt een baas bent op de gitaar! Echt knap! Verder sta ik je bij dat wanneer je eenmaal verbanden begint te zien je erachter komt dat alles ook echt een groot verband is!

Word up, Brian! Hiphop was aanvankelijk de sociaal-kritische stem van zwart Amerika. Sinds de zgn. 'gangsta rap'-bullshit van Ice T ('Cop Killer') is de hiphop helaas gekaapt door het establishment, dat niet blij was met hiphoppers die hen feilloos door hadden en hun publiek hierop attendeerden, met wat mij betreft Public Enemy als absolute voorlopers met waarheden als 'Don't Believe the Hype', 'Fight the Power' en 'Fear of a Black Planet'. Ik heb het boek The Psychological Covert War on Hip Hop' van Professor Griff, een absolute aanrader!

Ik zal het boek misschien een keer aanschaffen(moet nog een zooitje boeken doorlezen, heb Platos Sophist nog niet naar mijn zin opgenomen, en moet nog beginnen aan the republic dus zal nog ff gaan duren!).
