De paus

Last month I wrote a Substack detailing the profess of Conclave and I also took a look at who the frontrunners are to become the next Pope - including a couple of Conservatives who could quickly change the complexion of the Church.

I’d recommend a look-see given the current situation.

Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò dropped a bombshell back in February that barely made headlines.

He claimed that many suspected Pope Francis was already dead, citing the Vatican’s strange and contradictory medical updates.

Viganò accused the “Deep Church” of spiraling into panic—desperate to cover up crimes against children and scrambling as USAID’s billions in funding for illegal immigration face exposure.

He warned that the next pope would be just as corrupt.

Despite his declining health, Pope Francis called Gaza daily. In this video from January 22, 2025, he phoned the Holy Family Church, speaking briefly with Father Yusuf Asad and Father Gabriel Romanelli, asking, “How are you?” and “What have you eaten?”

These calls were not one-time gestures; he showed constant solidarity with Gaza during its darkest hours. Pope Francis passed away today at the age of 88.

⚡️BREAKING: Statement issued by Hezbollah mourning the death of the head of the Catholic Church, Pope Francis:

In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Hezbollah extends its sincere condolences to the State of the Vatican, to the followers of the Catholic Church worldwide, and to all Christians, especially our Christian brothers in Lebanon and the Papal Embassy there, on the passing of the head of the Catholic Church, Jorge Mario Bergoglio (Pope Francis), who believed in peace, called for the rejection of wars, and worked with deep faith to spread the values of love and tolerance and to build bridges between religions, civilizations, and peoples in pursuit of dialogue, understanding, and justice.

Through his inspiring stances, Pope Francis embodied the spirit of interfaith dialogue. His prominent meetings with Islamic authorities in Najaf and Al-Azhar were milestones that ignited the flame of love and the message of human brotherhood.

His clear positions calling for an end to the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip (until the final moments of his life), his condemnation of the massacres against our people in Palestine, his demands for humanitarian aid, his official recognition of the State of Palestine, and his consistent support for the Palestinian cause, in addition to his unwavering support for Lebanon at every stage and his condemnation of Israeli aggression against it, all reflect the sincerity of his call and his commitment to human values that reject injustice everywhere.

The Lebanese people, of all sects and groups, are called to remember the words of Pope Francis, who described Lebanon as “a message with great meaning,” expressing the model of coexistence and national unity, and to draw inspiration from his spirit of wisdom and strength to face challenges and confront attempts to sow discord and division in our beloved Lebanon.
