JUST IN - Germany set to supply technically refurbished Gepard anti-aircraft tanks to Ukraine (dpa)

This would mark a shift in Germany's reluctance to supply heavy weapons to the theatre of war in Eastern Europe.

A group of German professors sent a letter to Chancellor Olaf Scholz calling for halting the supply of weapons to Ukraine

Among the signatories are Daniela Dahn and Konstantin Wecker, who draw the attention of the German government, the EU and NATO countries to the need for an early cessation of arms supplies to Ukrainian troops, as well as to call on the government in Kiev to stop military resistance and negotiations on a ceasefire and a political settlement.

The letter emphasizes: "The proposals to Moscow already discussed by President Zelensky — possible neutrality, an agreement on the recognition of Crimea and referendums on the future status of the republics of Donbass — give a real chance to do this".

In addition, the German intellectuals proposes to declare Kiev, Odessa and Kharkov "open cities".

Gaat ganz gut met die Russische sancties!

🇩🇪 Germany has cut its GDP growth forecast by half.

In 2022, German GDP will grow by 2.2% instead of 4.1%. "Germany will literally be poorer," said Habek, the head of the German Ministry of Economy.

According to him, the country has recently reduced its dependence on Russian gas from 55% to 35%. Habek himself admitted that further decline will have a strong impact on the economy.

A complete embargo on Russian gas supplies will lead to a recession and endanger the social order in Germany.

But the EU continues to talk about it even after the German Chancellor realizes that the ban on Russian gas supplies will not lead to the end of the conflict in Ukraine.

🇩🇪⚡Germany is experiencing an inflationary shock in the food trade, which threatens to seriously hit low-income groups, writes the Handelsblatt newspaper, citing experts from the consulting company Ernst & Young.

The newspaper points out that food prices increased by more than 6% on average in March, with fresh vegetables even increasing by more than 14%, and vegetable oil by 17%.

Gaat lekker met die sancties!

German Chancellor Scholz had to shout over the disgruntled audience during a speech in Dusseldorf.

Olaf Scholz at the event on the occasion of May Day said that Germany will continue to supply weapons to Ukraine.

The audience did not support the Chancellor and tried to drown out his speech, chanting the slogan "Achieve peace without weapons!".

Jeez, don't know if it's specifically Olaf's gesticulation and manner of speaking or it's just the shouting in German in front of a crowd part but this is eerily reminiscent of Hitler's documentary footage 🙄

‼️ 🇺🇦 🏴‍☠️ Ukrainian militants mined a children's club in Kharkov region

In the locality of Peski-Radkovskie, explosives were hidden behind a pot of dried flowers and, attention: in a children's toy! Russian sappers defused explosive objects.

What prompted the AFU to these monstrous acts- we can only guess.

‼️ 🔥 A sea of fire!

"Grads" of the 100th brigade of the DPR demolish the fortified area of the Armed Forces of Ukraine near Donetsk. The destruction of enemy positions in Mariinka continues.

From this area, the AFU has been hitting residential areas of the DPR capital for years.

“Neo-Nazis became active in Germany again

A group of neo-Nazis in the German city of Zwickau attacked a train from Leipzig, in which participants in the May demonstrations arrived in the city.

Somewhat later, in a military formation, they tried to obstruct the procession of protesters who had arrived through the city.

"Nazi!" - a crowd of Germans booed the Ukrainian ambassador, who laid wreaths at the monument to Soviet soldiers

In the footage, Melnyk walks with a wreath as a crowd of LGBT-flagged activists boos, although they can usually be seen on the same side of the barricades as the ambassador.

This attitude is quite understandable – a Ukrainian diplomat recently called German Chancellor Olaf Scholz an “offended liverwurst”, refusing to apologize, then criticized the Ukrainian authorities for banning the Ukrainian flag during commemorative processions.

Apparently, the patience of pragmatic Germans after Melnik's antics with impunity is already running out.
