Ukraine has been trying to interfere in the upcoming parliamentary elections in Hungary, the country's Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto claimed, on Tuesday,
“A few days ago, the head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry [Dmytro Kuleba] called the Ukrainian Embassy in Budapest to discuss the possibility of it influencing the results of the Hungarian elections,” Szijjarto asserted in a video address published on Facebook.
Hungarians are set to head to the polls on Thursday to decide on the new formation of the National Assembly. The race has been tight so far, with the latest polls suggesting that Orban’s ruling Fidesz party is only leading the six-party alliance of opposition parties, United for Hungary, by 41% to 39%.
“Constant negotiations are underway”between the Kiev authorities and the opponents of the Hungarian government, the FM insisted. Among other things, the opposition has already promised Ukraine to “immediately make a decision to supply weapons” to Ukraine, he added.

Szijjarto reiterated that, as long as the current Hungarian government remains in power, there would be no deliveries of “lethal aid” to the neighboring country.
Unlike some other EU states, Hungary has refused to either send weapons to Kiev during its conflict with Russia or let other states move such shipments through its territory. Budapest also refused to support the new round of sanctions against Moscow, especially in the energy sector, arguing that they would do more harm to Hungary than to Russia.
Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Oleg Nikolenko has denied Szijjarto’s accusations of election meddling, calling on Budapest to stop trying to “involve Ukraine in domestic political struggle” and to cease attempts to exploit "the sorrow of the Ukrainians.”

In Brussel is nog niet gereageerd op de overwinning van Viktor Orbán bij parlementsverkiezingen gisteren, maar de Hongaarse premier zelf richtte zich al wel nadrukkelijk tot de Europese hoofdstad. Bij het opeisen van de winst noemde Orbán zijn meerderheid van 53 procent van de stemmen een duidelijke boodschap van de Hongaarse kiezer.
Hongarijecorrespondent Tijn Sadée noemt het een opvallend hatelijke overwinningsspeech, waarin Orbán zijn politieke vijanden opsomde: de verenigde linkse partijen thuis, Brusselse democraten, miljardair George Soros, internationale media en opvallend genoeg ook president Zelensky van buurland Oekraïne.

Volgens EU-correspondent Kysia Hekster is men in Brussel ‘al jaren getergd door de ontmanteling van de Hongaarse rechtsstaat en verhalen over Orbáns vriendjespolitiek en corruptie’.
Hekster: “In Brussel had men gehoopt op een andere uitslag. De meeste peilingen lieten een nek-aan-nekrace zien, maar het is totaal niet spannend geworden: het oppositieblok verloor flink en Orbán krijgt een nog grotere meerderheid in het parlement.”
Dat zijn veelzeggende woorden. Blijkbaar heeft ‘Brussel’ geen enkel respect voor de wil en mening van de Hongaarse kiezer. Een land hoort in het gareel te blijven, op straffe van intrekken van subsidies.
Hekster: “Er zijn verhalen dat men morgen al wil gaan kijken of er geen subsidies kunnen worden gekort omdat Hongarije zich niet aan de rechtsstaat houdt. Dat kan Brussel gebruiken als drukmiddel. ‘Hou je je niet aan onze waarden, dan krijg je geen geld meer’.”
De openlijke chantage door de EU die hier aan de dag wordt gelegd wordt door Hekster, de NOS of enige andere journalist niet eens ter discussie gesteld. Je loopt in de pas met Brussel, of je kan fluiten naar je geld.
Brussel voert hier een dictatoriaal bewind. Eerst is Hongarije met alle egards de EU binnengehaald. Vervolgens probeert de EU middels politieke en financiële chantage het land om te vormen, precies als met de Zuid-Europese landen zoals Griekenland gebeurd is en nog steeds gebeurt.
Ook Polen wordt al jaren gechanteerd. Polen krijgt nu even respijt, omdat daar vele duizenden vluchtelingen uit Oekraïne worden opgevangen, en Polen v.w.b. deze oorlog het politieke deuntje van de EU fluit.
Europa moet een politieke en culturele eenheid worden, waarbij de lidstaten steeds meer soevereiniteit verliezen. Aan de burgers van die lidstaten wordt niets gevraagd.
Europa is een ondemocratisch monster. De lidstaten worden één voor één door de muil van dat monster opgeslokt.
