Iran's Foreign Minister, Abbas Araqchi, carried a message from Iran's Supreme Leader to President Assad

He confirmed the Islamic Republic of Iran's firm position alongside Syria in its fight against terrorism, and its complete readiness to provide all necessary support to the Syrian government for this purpose.

Araqchi also noted that Syria has previously faced much more difficult situations than it is facing today, and that it is capable of achieving victory against terrorism and its backers, and that Iran will always support the Syrian government in defeating the Zionist schemes to destabilise Syria and the entire region.

➤ One of the areas of cooperation with Syria was combating “ISIS,” which prompted our presence in Syria to safeguard our national security.

➤ Iran played a key role in confronting ISIS, both in Iraq and Syria, at the request of the governments of those two countries.

➤ Had we not fought “ISIS” in Iraq and Syria, we would have had to fight them within Iran’s borders.

➤ Iran did not intervene but has consistently advised the Syrian government to engage in dialogue with the opposition and find political and peaceful solutions to resolve disputes.
