BREAKING: Iran threatens preemptive strike on U.S. base in Indian Ocean and possibility of developing a nuclear weapon.
Iran is reportedly preparing a preemptive military strike on the U.S. strategic airbase at Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean, according to a senior Iranian official quoted by the UK Telegraph. The strike would involve missiles and drones, with one option being to launch missiles that land near the island to send a deterrent message.
The move follows the recent deployment of U.S. B-2 bombers to the island, which has previously served as a launch point for major airstrikes in the Middle East. Satellite images and reports confirm at least six bombers are now stationed there.
Iranian officials have intensified threats in response to U.S. pressure. President Trump recently warned that if Iran refuses to agree to a deal, it would face “the most severe bombings it has ever seen.” In response, Ali Larijani, senior adviser to Supreme Leader Khamenei, said, “If the U.S. makes an aggressive mistake, it will force us to develop nuclear weapons.”
IRGC Aerospace Commander Amir-Ali Hajizadeh warned, “The U.S. has 50,000 troops in ten bases across the region. Those who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones at others’ homes.” His deputy, Ali Fadavi, added that Iran could disrupt oil shipments in the Persian Gulf—targeting key routes used by Gulf states like Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
The rising rhetoric signals a deepening crisis as both sides escalate threats, with Iran openly considering nuclear development if attacked.
