TODAY WE REMEMBER THE QANA MASSACRE IN LEBANON
On July 30 2006, in the village where Jesus Christ (pbuh) performed his first miracle, Israel slaughtered Lebanese children in their sleep.
18 years ago today, the Israeli army committed a massacre against civilians in the Lebanese village of Qana, murdering dozens of Lebanese children when it sent its US gifted war planes to destroy with pin-point accuracy a residential block of flats.
The UN had repeatedly warned that the building in Qana were civilians, women, and children in the main, but Israel went ahead and killed them in their sleep.
It was one of the most heinous crimes committed by Israel in Lebanon during the 2006 "War."
President Bush and Tony Blair repeatedly refused to call for an immediate ceasefire, a truce that would have saved all those lives (sound familiar?)
This was not the first time Israel had targeted the children of Qana. Just 10 years before in 1996, they massacred even more children who were sheltering in a UN compound in Qana.
This massacre, like the previous one, was very deliberate. Before the massacre, Israeli media openly urged it on, and after the dirty deed was done, the Israeli Rabbinical Council endorsed it.
Understandably for many Lebanese people, Qana has become a painful memory synonymous with the violent murder of their children.
