BREAKING: ISRAELI ARMY SPOKESMAN:

"We carried out a precise raid in Beirut, Lebanon, and assassinated Ibrahim Aqil, head of Hezbollah's operations division,"

"The raid led to the assassination of a number of leaders of the Operations Division in the Radwan Unit, including those who prepared the plan to occupy the Galilee,"

"Aqil and the targeted leaders were among those planning to storm the Galilee in a manner similar to what happened on October 7,"

"We will continue to defend and work to strip Hezbollah of its capabilities, strike it and work on all fronts,"

"Aqil was the actual Commander of the Radwan Unit and planned operations against Israel and its citizens,"

"We are committed to working to return the residents of northern Israel to their homes,"

⚡🇾🇪 Ansarallah spokesman Mohammed Abdul Salam:

We strongly condemn the aggressive “israeli” airstrike on the southern suburb of Beirut and reaffirm Yemen's solidarity with Lebanon and its heroic Islamic resistance in facing this unbridled “israeli” arrogance, which is free from all constraints. We also condemn America's continued support for the crimes of its terrorist entity at the expense of the security, safety, and stability of the region's people.

The new aggressive airstrike on the suburb, which follows the bloody electronic massacre, necessitates that the people of the region take responsibility and confront this criminal entity that targets everyone without exception.

This week’s events in Lebanon reveal a few dynamics.

Israel demonstrated its ability to carry out sophisticated clandestine operations in addition to its willingness to carry out attacks of mass destruction and kill civilians, which was never in question. However, the elation that Zionists feel following the beeper bombings and killing of several high-ranking Hezbollah commanders does nothing to remove Hezbollah from southern Lebanon or create security for the displaced residents of northern Israel. It only prolongs their displacement and guarantees further destruction of Israeli settlements. For Israel, this week is a tactical victory, but a strategic failure.

Israel has no strategy beyond escalation in the hope that Hezbollah and Iran will respond in kind, a full scale war will erupt, and the US will intervene on its behalf.

We must also remember that many religious Zionists, who occupy powerful positions in the military, believe that G-d will intervene on their behalf in a full scale war. Their equation is essentially that the worse the situation becomes, the closer they are to achieving messianic redemption.

So far, Hezbollah and Iran have not given Israel the pretext it desires for a full scale war, which would destroy both Israel and Lebanon, at least. Today is certainly a tactical failure and dark day in Lebanon, but the axis of resistance’s long term strategy remains in tact. The resistance axis know what their strengths and weaknesses are, and those of their enemy.

Perhaps the best analogy is the great boxer Muhammad Ali’s rope-a-dope strategy, which he employed in the infamous 1974 Rumble in the Jungle fight against the juggernaut George Foreman. Ali positioned himself against the ropes to avoid and absorb Foreman’s powerful blows while intermittently hitting back. Over seven rounds, the lumbering Foreman failed to adjust his strategy and exhausted himself. In the eighth round, Ali went on the offensive, delivering a knockout blow, and shocking the world.

Foreman later commented, “They call it the rope-a-dope. Well, I'm the dope. Ali just laid on the rope and I, like a dope, kept punching until I got tired. But he was probably the most smart fighter I've ever gotten into the ring with.”
