@Heksje: wat ik erover heb gevonden:
It is recommended that one liver-flushes to start with the clean the bile ducts and start recycling bile efficiently, rest, and then take the milk thistle to detoxify. There is a difference between cleansing and detox. A cleansed liver has the potential to detoxify itself over a period of many month and this can be assisted by milk thistle which also has the ability to repair liver cells.
Liver cleansing is a 2part protocol.
1st you decongest the duct work
2nd you cleanse the liver on a cellular level - milk thistle.
Taking milk thistle while still congested was a painful experience for me also!
After going stone free the first time, I switched to a gentle flush and started taking milk thistle tincture in the ridiculously small dose of 1 drop, 3 times a day. I gradually increased this to the point of now taking over a teaspoon a day. My liver is healing. I rarely experience that congested feeling in that part of my body.
I heartily agree with the above comment. The liver needs to be flushed out in order for the milk thistle to work well. It shouldn't be used before it IS flushed out. Being able to pick out the truth from error is mostly a matter of getting yourself educated on the subject. Otherwise, a person can get mixed up and not know what to believe. I had to flush out my liver and then the milk thistle was of use to me. A sick liver really can't get protected if it can't heal with the bugs and stones in it. It can't heal until the garbage is gone, THEN the silymarin or milk thistle will work. Bring the body back to where the cells can get healthy by following the order of cleansing: colon, liver, blood, lymph and cells, then any good supplement that is natural will work. I learned this from experience. Clean out the colon and liver and the rest will clean out by itself. THEN and only then can all the good nutrients be used to the best advantage.
If you think your liver is congested don't use milkthistle till you have done some flushes. The milkthistle will detox you and with a congested liver the toxins will get reabsorbed and you will feel sicker.
Voor de leverreinigingen zou ik eerder kurkuma nemen.
Liver detoxification should only be done once the liver is free flowing. This is achieved by utilizing a liver flushing protocol. My preference in this regard is is a combination between Andreas Moritz's liver flush regime along with a preperation phase with Julia Chang's herbal tinctures

Then and only then one should move to detoxifying the liver cells. If you try and stimulate liver detox (via an herb like milk thistle) or any cellular detox before the liver is free flowing, you will just detox and then retox. This can actually make you sicker as you take toxins out of storage and mobilize them throughout your system via the blood stream. You risk taking things out of safe storage and distressing other organs and tissue, etc as the toxins move to new locations.
