ISRAELI KNESSET IN CHAOS OVER PASSAGE OF BILL FORCING ULTRA-ORTHODOX JEWS TO SERVE IN THE MILITARY
Israel's parliament moved ahead with a contentious law on conscripting ultra-Orthodox students into the military amid angry scenes.
The bill, could see some ultra-Orthodox Jews, who traditionally resist service, gradually enter the military.
Defence Minister Yoav Gallant voted against it, while religious coalition parties supported the bill.
Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich:
"We have a great opportunity that should not be missed. The ultra-Orthodox public must not be pushed into a corner.
I will not endanger the State of Israel and its people.
I will not stop the war just before the destruction of Hamas because this an existential danger to Israel.”
