🚨BREAKING: HAMAS STATEMENT ON INTERNATIONAL DAY IN SUPPORT OF VICTIMS OF TORTURE

▪️ We call for holding the leaders of the occupation accountable for the crimes of torture against prisoners and detainees from our people, preventing them from escaping punishment, and exerting pressure by all means for the immediate release of all our prisoners from the prisons of the fascist enemy.

▪️ The International Day in Support of Victims of Torture, celebrated by the United Nations and the international community, comes at a time when the systematic crimes of torture by the fascist Zionist occupation against prisoners and detainees in its prisons and detention centers are escalating, especially those from our people in the Gaza Strip, after October 7, 2023.

▪️ Since the start of this aggression and genocide more than eight months ago, the prisoners, detainees, and those held by the Nazi occupation army have been subjected to the most brutal forms of savage revenge, including starvation, humiliation, abuse, deliberate medical neglect, deprivation of food and medicine, breaking of limbs, slow killing, and field executions. The number of martyrs under torture in its prisons has reached about 60 prisoners and detainees, including about 40 abducted from the Gaza Strip.

▪️ The crimes of brutal torture are a fixed policy pursued by this fascist occupation against our imprisoned and detained people, in blatant violation and clear disregard of all international treaties, laws, conventions, and heavenly legislations. This requires serious and genuine action from United Nations institutions and the international community to expose these crimes and work by all means to prosecute the perpetrators and prevent them from escaping punishment, and to pressure the criminal occupation to stop its violations against the prisoners and detainees and to release them immediately.

▪️ We in the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) emphasize that the United Nations' celebration of June 26 as the International Day in Support of Victims of Torture is an important opportunity to reveal and expose the crimes of torture committed by the Zionist occupation against our Palestinian people inside its prisons and detention centers, highlighting their ongoing suffering and the depth of their psychological and physical pain. It places a political, legal, moral, and humanitarian responsibility on these crimes and violations. In light of the occupation leaders' disregard for all laws and treaties that criminalize these violations, we call for the following:

Firstly: The United Nations, all countries, governments, and human rights and humanitarian institutions worldwide must fulfill their duty to pressure the occupation to allow family visits to prisoners, detainees, and those held in occupation prisons and detention centers, and to allow human rights and humanitarian organizations to assess their humanitarian conditions.

Secondly: All human rights and humanitarian institutions must move to file lawsuits in international courts against the perpetrators of torture and other violations committed against our Palestinian people, and prevent them from escaping punishment.

Thirdly: All political, legal, and humanitarian levels worldwide must bear their responsibilities towards our prisoners in the torture and abuse slaughterhouses, exposing and criminalizing the Nazi occupation policy against our people in the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, and occupied Jerusalem in prisons, and pressuring the fascist occupation government and its supporters to stop these crimes and immediately release all prisoners and detainees in Zionist enemy prisons.
