BREAKING: HAMAS OFFICIAL STATEMENT
“On World Humanitarian Day: We call for the criminalization of the occupation's violations against humanitarian work, the cessation of its escalating terrorism against Gaza, the West Bank, and Al-Quds, and urgent action to intensify humanitarian and relief work supporting our people and their steadfastness on their land.
World Humanitarian Day, celebrated by the United Nations and countries around the world on August 19th, comes amid the ongoing genocide, displacement, and ethnic cleansing against Gaza for the 318th day. During this period, more than 40,000 martyrs have fallen, most of them children and women, including 280 relief workers from UNRWA staff, about 93,000 injured, thousands missing and buried under rubble, and thousands kidnapped and detained in occupation prisons, where they are subjected to the most brutal crimes of torture and retaliatory killing.
On this World Humanitarian Day, we in the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) affirm the following:
First: The international community's celebration of this day places all countries, governments, and organizations before a political, legal, moral, and humanitarian responsibility to stand with our just cause and legitimate rights. Our people have been subjected to the most heinous genocide in modern history for ten months, which will remain a stain of shame on all those who have failed to stop it, end it, and prosecute its perpetrators in international courts.
Second: We commend the work, role, and efforts of all humanitarian and relief teams from our people and institutions, especially in Gaza, who continue to provide their services despite the bombing and the occupation’s escalation of all forms of crime, killing, and destruction against them. We call on Arab, Islamic, and international organizations working in the fields of humanitarian and relief work to intensify their efforts and programs, providing humanitarian, health, educational, and relief services.
Third: We call on all countries and governments to criminalize the racist and criminal practices and violations committed by the fascist occupation government against humanitarian teams supporting our Palestinian people, to pressure the occupation to stop its terrorism against them, and to provide protection to continue their humanitarian work.
Fourth: We call on the United Nations and its various institutions, and all humanitarian organizations, to assume their responsibilities in providing support to our Palestinian people wherever they are, especially in Gaza. We emphasize the necessity of continuing their humanitarian work in solidarity and support of our people's legitimate rights to live freely and with dignity on their occupied land, until rights are restored, and liberation and return are achieved.”
