JUST IN:
A year ago, a military force embarked on a mission to rescue captive Noa Argamani (who was freed last June). The special unit soldiers believed they were going to save Noa Argamani, but it was later revealed that the intelligence they had received was incorrect.
The soldiers reached the building, opened the entrance door, and immediately came under heavy gunfire from the militants.
The ‘rescue operation’ suddenly turned into an evacuation mission for the wounded, as several members of the special unit sustained severe injuries during the confrontation.
After hours, the soldiers returned, and during that time, Military Intelligence (AMAN) received shocking information: the person in the building was not Noa Argamani but rather Sa'ar Baruch, who had been captured from his home in Be'eri.
During the ‘rescue operation’ and the intense battle inside the building, Sa'ar was killed by a gunshot to the head. To this day, it remains unclear whether he was killed by the militants or accidentally shot by the forces.
Sa'ar Baruch's family told Channel 12:
"Military pressure could lead to the death of captives. We hope there will be no more deaths of this kind and that all captives will return as soon as possible through a deal."
