Daniel Byman of beltway think tank CSIS writes that Israel is killing Israeli captives in Gaza and will kill many more.
In other words, Israel is executing the Hannibal Directive.
“Conducting high-intensity military operations while trying to free prisoners is exceptionally difficult... Friendly fire by the IDF has killed some Israeli prisoners, and IDF bombing has undoubtedly killed more. If military operations continue, Israel will likely be able to liberate some of those kidnapped, but it will also lose many in the fighting.”
