Until recently I believed that Israel allowed the Oct. 7th attacks to happen. That is because I believed in the carefully constructed myth that the Mossad is perhaps the world's most sophisticated intelligence agency and that, conversely, the Palestinian resistance is highly primitive.
I could not have been more wrong. What these past 4 months have shown is that despite the military and intelligence advantage Israel has over its enemies it is Israel's hubris which is in fact its biggest enemy. We know the Mossad and IDF were aware of Hamas' preparations for the 10/7 attacks at least a year before they happened, yet they were arrogant enough to believe that they were superior and Hamas was just 'primitive' and posed no real threat.
The real danger in Israel's thinking is that they became complacent and relied too much on technology instead of actual military strategy and data analysis by battle-hardened military and intelligence veterans. On the other hand, Hamas (and also Hezbollah) became ever more resourceful using whatever scarce means tbey had and even improving on their technological equipment and skills by reverse engineering captured weaponry from the Israelis.
The way the IDF has conducted its air and ground offensive in the Gaza strip is a testament to their incredible hubris and, frankly, stupidity. Thinking they could easily defeat Hamas with their military might they haphazardly destroyed houses, schools, hospitals and other infrastructure, displacing what is now 9 of 10 Gazans and leaving them homeless. If their military aim was genocide and ethnic cleansing, then so far this has been a very effective strategy.
But remember what Netanyahu and his war cabinet told the Israeli people and the rest of the world - the military aim is to destroy Hamas and return the hostages. So far, neither of these two objectives have been achieved. In fact, the IDF's wanton destruction from the air has has not impacted the underground tunnels from which Hamas operates and the rubble and the ruins the IDF left behind only serve as an ideal terrain from which Hamas fighters can attack Israeli snipers, tanks, bulldozers, and even drones.
From a military standpoint it makes no sense to leave buildings semi-intact. Videos of Qassam Brigade fighters show them engaging the enemy from above in bombed-out buildings while IDF vehicles search for them on the ground. The vast tunnel network is an intricate spider web which allows Qassam fighters to attack the IDF at close range from unexpected angles, yet the stupid Israelis think they can succesfully close down tunnels by desecrating Palestinian graveyards and then proudly showing one or two exit holes. Their arrogance is truly off the charts.
Hamas is rewriting guerilla warfare tactics. Never before have we seen a guerilla army be this resourceful against a state-of-the-art modern army which has been resting on its laurels for too long using reservists and conscripts with no real war combat experience. Just look at the vids of single Hamas fighters placing explosives on or under Israeli tanks with a tank crew that easily outnumbers that one fighter, yet remains inside their tank when they could just get out and dispatch the enemy soldier. They are not only arrogant but also cowardly, while Hamas fighters are showing extreme courage.
Meanwhile, Netanyahu and his people have no real victories and no hostages to show for and the Israeli people are getting fed up. This is a militarized society and the massive casualties suffered by the IDF can no longer be concealed to the general public. The world is seeing the genocide and ethnic cleansing of innocent men, women and children and is also rising up against the Zionists. And all they can do is double down and even triple down.
Yes, they really are that arrogant and stupid and it will be their downfall. Pride before the fall - they have no one to blame but themselves.
