On #Rafah, @UN_Spokesperson @StephDujarric reads a @UNOCHA statement saying: "A mass evacuation on this scale is impossible to carry out safely." Adds that @UN "is not taking part in any involuntary evacuations or in setting up of any displacement zones in southern #Gaza." Reiterates that an attack there would push already fragile aid operation to breaking point. "Until now all fuel entering Gaza comes through the Rafah crossing. Any disruption to this fuel supply will halt our humanitarian work and I can already tell you that nothing came through Rafah today," he says.

Het nieuws volgt elkaar nu razendsnel op. Hamas heeft enkele minuten geleden aangegeven akkoord te gaan met een wapenstilstand. Onderhandelingen tussen Israel en Hamas zijn al dagenlang gaande, gefaciliteerd door Egypte en Qatar. Enkele minuten geleden heeft het Israelische oorlogskabinet de invasie van Rafah goedgekeurd en Israelische media berichten dat Israel de goedkeuring van Hamas aan een wapenstilstand afkeurt. Het is duidelijk: Hamas wil vrede, Israel wil oorlog.
