Explanation on the “ISIS flag/patch”
- Writing on top:
“There is no god but Allah. Mohammad is the messenger of Allah.”
- White circle, representing “the seal of prophecy”:
"Mohammed is the messenger of God"
Many Islamic factions used it previously and it was never a logo for someone, before ISIS.
-> Now, over the years ISIS used it as their flag and other groups stopped using it. Essentially because it would lump them together with ISIS.
This is also the reason we haven’t seen Hamas or Hezbollah using this symbol in the recent years.
In short it became the ISIS flag and is now used as such, though technically it’s just a Muslim symbol.
-> You can imagine that if Hamas or Hezbollah would have shown this symbol, it would have been the 24/7 news coverage for the whole year.
PS: That is what I was told by Muslims who help me gather content, feel free to clarify further or tell me where I am wrong.
My question to a follower: “Is it fair to say that the seal of prophecy with the writing above became the logo for Isis?”
Answer:
“The world sees it like that, muslim scholars still stand that it is an Islamic symbol.
Personally I think they can use it in another color or just change the order or add more words to separate from ISIS”
The way I see it, it’s like the Nazis took the swastika and made it a nazi symbols.
Before WW2 it was a peace symbol or whatever, but now it is not. If you use the swastika in the west now, you’re a nazi. Simple. (Except India and such)
The same applies here. The Muslim
Symbol in this configuration, this wording and color became the flag of Isis. So yes it belongs to Isis.
That is my opinion, but I have laid out the facts above so you can judge yourself.
