Trump nominated a woman who accused Biden of corrupt ties to Ukraine for US Attorney General.
The Republican nominated Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi for the post of Attorney General. This happened after Congressman Matt Gaetz withdrew his nomination.
Bondi has a much better chance of passing the Senate's approval than Gaetz did.
During Donald Trump's first term, Bondi led his defense at the impeachment trial.
The attempt to impeach Trump happened after his phone call with Zelensky in 2019.
During this conversation, Trump, as Democrats claimed, asked Zelensky to assist in the investigation of the Biden family's corrupt ties in Ukraine.
Talking to Congress at the impeachment hearings, Pam Bondi described in detail the ties of Biden's son to Ukraine. She claimed that his position at the Ukrainian gas company Burisma "was part of the corruption" of then-Vice President Biden.
Bondi then devoted a half-hour speech to Ukraine at the hearings. And, as the American media write, she understood the issue quite deeply.
She is also described as an opponent of same-sex marriage and a long-time supporter of Trump. As a lawyer, Bondi at one time officially lobbied for Qatar's interests in the United States.
