BREAKING: U.S. State Department:Our policy in Syria remains unchanged; we consider Assad a brutal dictator with blood on his hands.
We call on Russia and Iran to avoid escalating the situation in Syria, as the Syrian people alone should determine their country’s fate.
Political regimes should not normalize relations with Assad’s regime unless he changes his policies towards the Syrian people.
Ultimately, we hope to see a political process in Syria that allows the Syrian people to choose their leaders.
We oppose any country exploiting Syria’s instability for its own interests.
Regarding Lebanon:
The ceasefire in Lebanon has successfully halted the fighting since its implementation.
We will address reports of ceasefire violations in Lebanon through the established mechanism.
What we do not want to see is the collapse of the ceasefire in Lebanon, which has not occurred despite reports of violations.
