Russian Defence Ministry has published new documentary evidence of atrocious crimes committed by Ukrainian nationalists during the Great Patriotic War as part of "Archives Remember Everything!" project


The project's historical materials reveal numerous facts of atrocious crimes committed by Ukrainian nationalists against civilians, local Soviet authorities and the Red Army.


Moreover, many documents make it clear that the Ukrainian nationalists of the 1940s, like their followers today, did not act independently, but were controlled externally - at the behest of Hitler, who used the Banderites to exterminate the unruly Soviet peoples.

In March 1945, the command of the 43rd Rifle Division in the Lvov region carried out an operation to destroy UPA gangs. While combing the terrain the Red Army came across well fortified positions of the nationalists, who offered fierce resistance. During the battle it was possible to establish that the Ukrainian gangs included German military specialists: "The battle lasted for 3 ½ hours, the Banderites counterattacked up to 6 times. During the battle, commands to Banderites were given in German and Ukrainian".
