“Wide popular and official participation in the funeral of the martyr, leader, and fighter Ismail Haniyeh in Doha
Tens of thousands performed the funeral prayer for the body of the nation’s martyr, Sheikh Ismail Haniyeh, the head of the political bureau of the Hamas movement, in the Qatari capital, Doha, today, Friday, in ceremonies that witnessed widespread popular and official attendance from various Arab and Islamic countries.
The funeral procession began at the Imam Muhammad bin Abdul Wahhab Mosque, the largest mosque in Doha, where Khalil al-Hayya, a member of the Hamas political bureau, led the funeral prayer.
Official and popular delegations from Arab and Islamic countries such as Turkey, Iran, Malaysia, Jordan, Morocco, Iraq, Mauritania, and Qatar attended the funeral. The Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Father Emir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, and Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, the Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, participated in the funeral prayer, alongside official delegations and leaders of Palestinian factions.
Prominent officials from several countries also attended the funeral, including the first vice president of Iran, Mohammad Reza Aref, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, and a high-level delegation from the Afghan government, in addition to representatives from Iraqi resistance factions.
The funeral also witnessed a significant presence of Hamas leaders abroad, headed by Khaled Meshal, and the Secretary-General of the Islamic Jihad Movement, Ziyad Nakhaleh, along with representatives from the Fatah movement, led by the movement’s deputy head, Mahmoud al-Aloul.
A Jewish delegation from the “Neturei Karta” group, a Jewish movement that rejects zionism and opposes the existence of the state of “israel,” also participated in the funeral, demanding the return of the land to the Palestinians.
The Iranian capital, Tehran, had witnessed an official and popular funeral ceremony for Ismail Haniyeh, the head of the Hamas political bureau, yesterday before his body was transferred to Doha on Thursday evening.
In Doha, the bodies of Haniyeh and his companion, Wasim Abu Shaaban, were buried in the Imam Al-Muassis cemetery in Lusail, with a limited number of close family members present, to ensure the family’s privacy and that of the cemetery.
Simultaneously with the funeral ceremonies in Doha, our nation’s masses responded to Hamas’ call to perform the absentee prayer for the soul of the leader Haniyeh, with millions of Muslims participating in the absentee prayer in Indonesia, Malaysia, Turkey, Pakistan, Yemen, Palestine, Jordan, and other countries.”
