BREAKING: HAMAS OFFICIAL STATEMENT

On the 55th anniversary of the crime of burning the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque:

“The Al-Aqsa Flood has united our people and reinforced our compass toward the liberation of the land and the holy sites. There is no legitimacy or sovereignty for the occupation over any inch of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Our great people, along with their valiant resistance in Gaza, the West Bank, Al-Quds, the occupied interior, and in the refugee camps and diaspora, will remain steadfast in their land, rights, and principles. They will continue to be a strong shield in defending the land and protecting the holy sites until liberation and return.

We call on the masses of our people, our nation, and the free people of the world to mobilize and gather in all arenas, making the coming Friday, August 24th, a day of massive action to support and defend Gaza, Al-Quds, and the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Today, our Palestinian people, our Arab and Islamic nation, and the free people of the world mark the 55th anniversary of the crime of burning the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque on August 21, 1969, amidst the zionist occupation’s escalation of the genocidal war and horrific massacres against our people in the Gaza Strip for the tenth consecutive month. This occurs alongside the continuing crimes of the fascist occupation government against our people in the occupied West Bank, against our holy sites, particularly Al-Quds and the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, through provocative incursions, frenzied attempts to impose temporal and spatial division, implementing Judaization plans, and targeting the steadfast and the people of Al-Quds with killing, expulsion, arrest, and persecution. All this occurs while international silence, negligence, and Western support for these crimes and massacres continue.

Our Palestinian people, in the midst of the heroic Al-Aqsa Flood battle, remember on this day this heinous crime that was carried out with the complicity of the occupation authorities in a desperate attempt to burn and erase the features of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, the First Qibla and the Third Haram. This crime and other crimes by the zionist enemy targeting the identity and history of Al-Quds and the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, which have escalated unprecedentedly since October 7 of last year, will not succeed in changing their identity or imposing a reality that allows the occupation leaders and their successive fascist governments to take over or impose sovereignty over even an inch of them, no matter how long it takes or how great the sacrifices. Our Palestinian people, wherever they are, with their unity and valiant resistance, will continue to defend and protect them by all means until their liberation and the end of the occupation.

On the 55th anniversary of the crime of burning the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, we pray for mercy upon the souls of our martyrs in the proud Gaza Strip, the resilient West Bank, Al-Quds, in the refugee camps, and across our Arab and Islamic nation, who have ascended in defense of their land, their rights, and the holy sites of the nation. We proudly remember the heroism, sacrifices, steadfastness, and legendary resilience of our great people and the epic of resistance and defense for Al-Quds and Al-Aqsa throughout their honorable struggle, representing the entire nation. We salute the stationed ones in Al-Quds and its surroundings, the victorious resistance fighters in Gaza, our revolutionary youth, and the men of resilience, sacrifice, and resistance across our occupied land and in the refugee camps and diaspora. 1/2

We, in the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), emphasize the following:

1- The crime of burning the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque and all the crimes of the zionist-Nazi occupation and the extremist zionist aggressors against our land, people, and holy sites have only increased the steadfastness of our people and our valiant resistance, and all the crimes and violations of the occupation and its criminal army, which have persisted for 76 years, will not succeed in extinguishing the flame of resistance in the hearts of our people's generations or breaking their will to continue confronting the crimes of the occupation.

2- Al-Aqsa Mosque and the city of Al-Quds will remain the focal point of the struggle with the zionist enemy and the compass for the unity of our people and our nation in defending and supporting them, and standing in solidarity with its people and the steadfast ones there, in all fields: militarily, politically, diplomatically, media-wise, and humanitarily, until they are liberated from the filth of the occupation.

3- There is no sovereignty or legitimacy for the occupation over even an inch of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, which is an Islamic endowment, and it will remain so. All attempts and schemes by the occupation to judaize or alter its features, or to divide it temporally and spatially, will not succeed. It will remain purely Islamic and will continue to attract the hearts of the nation's people from all corners of the world.

4- We stress the necessity for our nation—its leaders, officials, people, governments, and organizations—to assume their historical role and responsibility in supporting the steadfastness of our people and resistance in facing the threat and aggression of the occupation, which targets the land, the people, and the holy sites.

5- Our Islamic nation, its leaders, and governments, which rallied to support Al-Aqsa Mosque after the crime of burning it in 1969, are called upon today to bear their historical responsibility to urgently and effectively act to defend Al-Aqsa Mosque and protect it from the escalating dangers of Judaization and the erasure of its features.

6- We call on the masses of our people in the city of Al-Quds, our people in the occupied interior, and the entirety of the occupied West Bank to continue making pilgrimages, maintaining presence, and performing i'tikaf (spiritual retreat) at the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque on the upcoming Al-Aqsa Friday, August 24th, and to confront all attempts by zionist extremists to storm and desecrate it, and to thwart their malicious plans aimed at dividing it.

7- We call on the masses of our people, our nation, and the free people of the world to mobilize and gather in all squares, cities, and capitals, making the upcoming Friday, August 24th, a massive and active day of victory, solidarity, and defense of Gaza, Al-Quds, and the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque.

8- We urge the peoples of the Arab and Islamic nations to enhance and intensify their support and solidarity with the steadfastness of our people in the Gaza Strip, and with the residents of Al-Quds in their perseverance, jihad, and sacrifices, so that we may all share in the honor of contributing to the defense of Palestine and the liberation of Al-Aqsa Mosque.

In conclusion,
The vigilance of our people's masses, their legendary steadfastness, the perseverance and bravery of those holding their ground, and the firmness and strength of the resistance fighters at every juncture where this fascist enemy has tried to target Al-Quds and Al-Aqsa have thwarted all such attempts. With Allah's help and strength, they will continue to thwart all of the occupation's aggressive plans against our people, our land, and our sanctities. The spirit and flame of the Al-Aqsa Flood will not be extinguished, and its path will continue, no matter the sacrifices, until the occupation is defeated and the land and sanctities are liberated.”
