BREAKING: HAARETZ PUBLISHES HORRIFIC TESTIMONY ABOUT TORTURE AND SEXUAL ABUSE OF PALESTINIAN DETAINEES
According to the lawyer of S', who will remain anonymous, after the start of the war in October 2023, S' suffered from a series of harassments and severe mistreatment in prison. He reported severe physical violence, psychological abuse, and repeated beatings.
At the beginning of November, he was placed in solitary confinement along with additional prisoners in an isolation wing known as the "Nachliel" section. There, the prisoners demanded they be allowed to commit suicide and surrender, crying out to put an end to their suffering in prison. The harsh conditions and violent incidents caused S' to repeatedly bang his head on the walls and floors of his cell. Despite this, prison officials ignored his requests.
On the night of S's death, K., the security officer responsible for the isolation wing, heard S' banging his head again on the wall, and yet, no one came to help him. Eventually, S' collapsed and died from severe internal injuries.
S' also testified that on one of the nights, special forces ("Nachshon") and officers entered the cell after they returned from an operation and began to beat the prisoners brutally. According to his account, he was dragged to the hallway, and there they continued beating and kicking him until he could no longer stand or sit. He described the event as particularly severe because it lasted for several minutes, and the beatings were deep and intense, without any intervention according to protocol. After this, other prisoners experienced similar abuse and sexual assault. He also described another incident where officers entered the cell and forced the prisoners to strip and march naked in front of the entire wing.
