BREAKING: Israeli minister of National Security Itamar Ben Gvir admits he was sabotaging the deal multiple times:
This is not a “difficult choice” that needs to be made to bring the hostages home. It is a conscious decision at the cost of the lives of many other Israeli citizens, who, unfortunately, will pay with their lives as a result of this deal. We have already seen the consequences of such deals in the past. We learned the hard way that there is no validity to all the promises of “sorting it out later.”
Over the past year, through our political power, we have repeatedly succeeded in preventing this deal from moving forward.
However, additional elements have since joined the government, now supporting the deal, and we no longer hold the balance of power.
This means that the Prime Minister will only refrain from signing the deal if the opposition to it is strong enough to prevent him from doing so.
The power of Otzma Yehudit alone is not enough, in its current composition in the government, to serve as a leverage to stop the deal, and our withdrawal alone will not prevent its implementation.
Therefore, I call on my colleague, Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, to join me in full cooperation against this terrible emerging deal and to clearly and decisively inform the Prime Minister that if the deal is implemented, we will withdraw from the government together.
I emphasize: Even if we are in the opposition, we will not topple Netanyahu, but this step is our only chance to prevent its implementation and, in effect, to stop Israel from surrendering to Hamas after over a year of bloody war, during which more than 400 IDF soldiers fell in the Gaza Strip. This will ensure that their deaths will not be in vain.
At the same time, I call on the Prime Minister to come to his senses and take steps that will lead to Hamas’s defeat and the release of our hostages without compromising Israel’s security: to completely cease the transfer of humanitarian aid, fuel, electricity, and water to Gaza, alongside continued military pressure on Hamas until its absolute defeat.
