BREAKING: New amendments to the deal are causing a delay in the announcement of the ceasefire.
Recent amendments to the draft agreement indicate significant changes, including:
1.Israeli Prisoners and Day-One Arrangements:
The occupation demanded the release of the first three prisoners meeting humanitarian criteria, such as women and the elderly, on the first day of the agreement, with ongoing releases in subsequent days.
In response, the resistance agreed to include nine Israeli soldiers out of eleven in the first phase of the exchange, despite not meeting humanitarian criteria, in return for the release of 1,000 Palestinian prisoners from Gaza who were detained after October 7.
2.Presence of Occupation Forces:
The areas where the occupation forces plan to remain during the first phase have been reduced from 1.5 kilometers to 500 meters in some locations and 700 meters in others, particularly along the eastern border. The agreement also includes detailed maps of these locations and plans for withdrawal.
3.Displaced Persons and Return Arrangements:
An agreement was reached to allow displaced persons to return to northern Gaza without preconditions for men and women, with Qatari and Egyptian guarantees to ensure safe passage for vehicles and trucks with specialized technical teams.
4.Reconstruction and Emergency Aid:
The agreement includes the immediate start of reconstruction efforts and promises a financial grant for every family in Gaza.
5.Rafah Crossing:
The agreement includes clearing the Rafah crossing during the first phase and evacuating the Philadelphi Route by the end of the third phase.
These amendments have caused a delay in the ceasefire announcement but reflect significant progress toward a comprehensive agreement that meets the demands of the resistance.
A joint press conference is expected to feature Dr. Khalil al-Hayya, the head of Hamas in Gaza, and Ziad al-Nakhalah, the Secretary-General of Islamic Jihad, to discuss the details and aspects of the ceasefire agreement.
