JUST IN:Here are scenes of Israeli celebrations and applause following the resistance’s handover of the three detainees to the Red Cross—an event broadcast live on a massive screen in central Tel Aviv. Their hopes had been dashed, as neither the Israeli army’s elite forces nor the Shin Bet succeeded in aiding them.
The Israeli military announced that an elite unit of the Israeli army, along with a Shin Bet force, accompanied the three detainees after the Red Cross handed them over to the military at the Nitzarim axis.
