British journalist David Hirst:
“In Gaza, the Palestinian people's determination to remain on their land - even as it was being turned into rubble - was the decisive factor in this war.
This is an amazing achievement considering that the area, which does not exceed 360 square kilometers, was completely cut off from the world, with no allies to help break the siege and no natural terrain to help hide.
Neither forced famine, nor cold, nor disease, nor brutal persecution at the hands of the invaders weakened their resolve or weakened their determination to remain in their land.”
