A testimony documented by a researcher at the Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor describes the Israeli army's sniping of four-year-old Yahya Mu'tasim Daloul.
Witness Ismail recounts that an Israeli sniper directly shot at the child's head on the morning of May 30. Ismail and a friend rushed to try and pull him to safety, but the sniper fired at them, injuring Ismail, forcing them to flee and leave Yahya behind.
Yahya's father said that when he returned to retrieve his son after the Israeli army withdrew from the vicinity of the university college south of Gaza City, he found Yahya's body mangled from being run over by tank treads. The father could not recognize any of Yahya's features, despite the short time since his death.
Yahya might not have died immediately from the gunshot wound. He could have bled for a long time before dying, or the Israeli tanks might have run over him while he was still alive.
Witness Ismail was shot twice, in the chest and hand.
