Trump maneuvered them into a position where they had to commit actual crimes (practically in front of the public) as a last resort, to stop him from showing everyone what they need to keep hidden.
Only the most diehard liberal will ignore this evidence that they had something to hide. Independents probably just moved another +2 or 3 in Trump’s favor, after the dust settles on this.
Think about the downstream costs and manpower to cheat even more… that is the price they just paid. They are “robbing Peter to pay Paul” to keep their shitty position somewhat viable.
