⚡🇺🇸🇮🇱JUST IN: Secretary of State Marco Rubio called the foreign students who protested against Israel “lunatics.”:

“When we identify lunatics like these, we take away their student Visa. No one is entitled to a student Visa. The press covers a student Visa like it's a birthright”

BREAKING: America Just Criminalized Dissent

In a chilling echo of McCarthy-era repression, a Louisiana judge has approved the deportation of Columbia grad student Mahmoud Khalil under a 1952 Cold War law, branding his peaceful pro-Palestinian activism a “threat to U.S. foreign policy.”

Khalil, detained since March, has until April 23 to appeal. Meanwhile, a New Jersey court has temporarily blocked the deportation, exposing a legal tug-of-war over the legitimacy of silencing protest through archaic law.

This is not justice. This is political persecution. Proof that in today’s America, standing for Palestine can cost you your freedom.

After the immigration judge in Mahmoud Khalil's case ordered the government to provide evidence to justify deporting him, this is what they filed. I've been a lawyer for 14 years, & a criminal defense lawyer for 9 of those years, and I've never seen anything like this. Totally nebulous, vague allegations about involvement in "antisemitic protests" and "disruptive activities" without any specific attributions of unlawful activity or even "antisemitic" speech to Khalil himself (which in any event is protected; the US rightly does not have hate speech laws). In the US and all civilized societies, if gov't is going to punish someone under the law, it had better provide evidence of specific forms of unlawful activity BY THE INDIVIDUAL it's targeting. Not only has the gov't entirely failed to do that here, but it's obvious it's case is predicated on punishing 1A protected speech and protest.

Ignorant statement Mike Waltz - the First Amendment of our US Constitution is not a ‘privilege’, it is an inalienable RIGHT, which fully covers political speech & criticism of the policies and actions of both US and foreign governments, including Israel. Read your Constitution: it explicitly RESTRAINS government from denying those right to anyone inside US jurisdiction - especially legal residents like Mahmoud Khalil.

And while you may feel safe among the current chorus of ignorance on these matters, you sir are guilty of libel and defamation by claiming Mahmoud Khalil is ‘antisemitic’ and somehow advocating for terrorism - students calling for Boycott/Divestment/Sanctions of Israel for slaughtering tens of thousands of Palestinians with US bombs - is neither ‘antisemitic’ nor terrorism. Unless you are reading off your AIPAC talking points memo.

BTW - Mahmoud Khalil is Palestinian, therefore he is SEMITIC. So your disingenuous framing does not even make sense.

Understand that your Administration’s attack on our First Amendment is destroying the United States from within - on behalf of a foreign lobby. That makes you, not Mahmoud Khalil, an enemy of our Constitution. “All enemies, foreign and domestic”, your are straddling both sides of that proscription enshrined in your oath. You would do well to go and read it again.

Attacking our First Amendment is unAmerican and tantamount to treason.

FYI - Duly noted by the American people, those of us who still understand & believe in our Constitution….
