Het is wel zo dat Hamas-leider Abu Obeida in een speech de rode kalveren noemt in relatie tot de aanval op 7 oktober vorig jaar. Blijkbaar waren de kalveren toen al vaarsen en is de eerste poging tot het uitvoeren van het tempelritueel gedwarsboomd. Ze wilden het vervolgens doen op de Joodse Pasen (vanaf vandaag), maar er is teveel publiciteit omtrent deze gebeurtenis. Het moet echter wel voor oktober gebeuren, anders zijn de kalveren te oud.
Hamas en Hezbollah hebben dus succesvol de slachting van het rode kalf reeds twee keer weten te voorkomen. Vandaar dat Netanyahu ook bereid is de strijd aan te gaan met Hezbollah. Als dit allemaal klopt heeft Israel geen baat bij een conflict met Iran, in ieder geval niet dit jaar.
