Three medical workers are now claiming that the Syrian government pressured them to say that there was no chemical attack in Douma in April 2018.
Let's assume they're being truthful that the Syrian gov't tried to coerce them. That doesn't change the fact that, as leaked documents prove, the OPCW's own investigation of Douma did not find evidence of a chemical attack -- and was censored.
The original OPCW report -- the one that got censored -- noted that there were “[t]wo broad and distinct narratives” in alleged witness testimony -- one supporting the use of chemical weapons, and the other not supporting it. This underscored the importance of following what the scientific findings said.
Witness testimony can be influenced by bias or coercion. The science can't. In the case of Douma, the science was censored.
If media outlets care about establishing the truth about Douma, their reports would at least acknowledge that the OPCW's own inspectors alleged a cover-up of their probe. But they never do.
In articles like one below, the OPCW whistleblowers and leaks are always omitted -- not even a passing mention. The reason is obvious: acknowledging the Douma scandal would mean dealing with the censored scientific findings.
If you are demanding that we listen to these alleged witnesses but support the silencing of the OPCW inspectors who carried out the investigation, then you're not interested in the truth about Douma, or justice for its victims.
